4. The Book and Video Approval Committee follows the procedure in Regularion 3007 for reviewing the material
Results:
If approved
Attachment A is returned to the department chair with a signature from the Administration
If not approved
Department chair and teacher will be notified and provided with the reasons

General Rules for Video selection and approval
Videos that are under 20 minutes in length - are left to the teacher’s discretion
20 minutes or longer needs approval
Exceptions:
All R rated movies require approval & parental permission - EVEN if you are showing a short clip
The physical DVDs in the library have been approved for the classes for whom they were purchased
SWANK is a digital platform to stream videos for classroom purposes. Videos contained within SWANK require approval.
Regulation 3007.3 is the baseline for all recommendations made by the Book and Video Approval Committee to the Principal regarding the approval of videos. The forms needed to process a request for approval are contained within the regulation.
Important to note:
Regulation 3007.3 states that an R rated movie may not be shown in its entirety
Furthermore you can not show any part of an R rated movie that points to the R rating
Even a scene from an R rated movie requires parental permission
If showing a scene from a R rated movie - teachers must have an alternative assessment available to any students whose parents opt out.
Regulation 3011 & Regulation 3280 are mentioned within Regulation 3007.3. Last revised in 2015, these regulations require us to think critically about our instruction to ensure that we are consistently making culturally responsive choices.
